Story of a courtesan, based on the 19th century Luckhnow Nawab culture, who goes through the different stages of her life and finally makes a futile search for her birth parents. Kidnapped by the village baddie during her childhood and sold to the ladies at the kotha, the innocent Ameeran(Umrao) grows up to love and admire the power she possesses to control men's hearts with her beautiful voice and her dance movements. This is the story of the loss of innocence as a child turns into a woman and then a courtesan. The production values are superb and it shows that the whole team has put a lot of effort into creating the atmosphere prevalent in the yesteryears. Amna Bano is a great find as her dialogue delivery and her facial expressions don't for one second make you think that she is a newcomer. The supporting cast is also performing well, but credit must be given to Rana Sheikh and Zehra Nigah for taking on this humongous effort and coming out as winners! Kudos to the whole team as the play has taken off to a splendid start and the story being told PLEASE NOTE : Review was taken from http://ptv2.cjb.net
